Join us on our annual club trip to Catalina Island this November! Come anytime, Friday through Sunday, we’ll be there. The practical information: We typically stay at Seaport Village, which caters to the diving community, but there is no block of rooms booked. You can leave your tanks at home as there are plenty available directly at the Point. The best way to get there is via the Catalina Express out of Long Beach; the boats leave regularly, so you should have no problem finding a time that works for you (just don’t forget your sea sickness remedy).

If you have never been to Avalon before, you’re in for a treat! Casino Point boasts a gorgeous dive park with sea life including garibaldis, sheepshead, and occasionally Black Sea bass, as well as multiple wrecks that are dividable from about 30 feet and deeper.

Out of the water, Avalon is a cute, fun town with shopping, art galleries, and delicious food and cocktails. (Your webmaster’s personal favorite: El Galleon.) There’s outdoor adventuring, too, like hikes, golf cart rentals, and Jeep tours of the island’s outer reaches, as well as beautiful botanical garden tucked up in the mountain.

The weekend promises to be full of great diving and way too much food. We look forward to seeing you there!
